Whooshes are a super flexible type of sound effect. They can be used for weapons, spells, power-ups, and flybys, among many other common game sounds.

Recently, I have been experimenting with creating “larger than life” types of whoosh sound effects. Using Phase Plant, and some FX plugins, I was able to get some pretty good results using recordings I got from around my house.

In this video, we’ll go over:

  • How to create a whoosh template patch within Phase Plant
  • Adding modulation to create a punchy/impact sound right at the peak of the whoosh
  • FX, plugins, and all that fun stuff (I even use a new free plugin I’ve been really liking)
