Sound Designer’s Starter Pack (free): https://daviddumaisaudio.com/starterpack

Recently I had a viewer message me and asked how he could design a distant gunshot sound effect.

He designed a gunshot he was happy with and tried adding a filter, changing the volume, and putting it through reverb and delays but it still didn’t sound right. He even tried using a distance plugin but it still wasn’t exactly what he was looking for.

So, what could he do? What was he missing?

I mentioned the best approach would be to have gunshot recordings from different distances. But since he didn’t have that then I mentioned there were 2 elements he needed.

That’s what we’ll be going over in this video.
