Nailing the tone of an atmosphere or ambience is really crucial for creating an immersive experience in any game.

There are, of course, many ways of creating ambiences, but I have found that recording your own samples and manipulating them can be an effective way to design dark and creepy sound beds.

In this video, I’ll be designing a dark ambience from scratch as well as showing examples of other ambient beds I have created so that you can apply these techniques and ideas to your designs.

In this video, we’ll go over:

  • Designing a dark ambient layer from scratch
  • Sound sources used to design dark ambience layers
  • FX, processing, and all that fun stuff
