Last summer, I was working on some design work where I needed some fire sources. I thought I could maybe get some cool sounds from recording flames out of a gas stove.

I prepared my recorder and microphones, got everything set up, turned on the stove, and started recording. All good…until I started to notice my windbubbles were sizzling up.

They got damaged a bit but fortunately, my microphones were ok. I figured it was worth it to get some good recordings…until I listened back to my recordings and realized they were complete garbage :p.

To spare you the effort and money, I’d like to share with you how you can create a campfire or fireplace sound effect from scratch. And no, there’s no need to record any heat source.

In this video, we’ll go over:

  • How to design a campfire from scratch using items you probably already have at home
  • How I designed a burning building sound effect using the same techniques
  • Plugins, FX, processing, and all that fun stuff

If this was valuable to you, please consider sharing it!
